Why Fremantle?
Poseidon Scientific Instruments has called Fremantle home for over 20 years
Our customers sometimes ask why an internationally competitive company, with customers in the most populous cities in the world, chooses to operate out of Western Australia.
Because we’re in good company in the Southern Hemisphere - 60 percent of the world's population lives on our time zone, including economic ‘giants’ like China, Japan and Singapore.
When you live in Fremantle and stand on the shore looking across the Indian Ocean, the air is fresh, the sand is a dazzling white and sky's colour a rare blue; perhaps only then can you begin to understand why. Click here to get a small visual taste.
Looking west, well beyond the horizon are the romantic destinations of Madagascar and the African continent. It's from that direction the Roaring Forties blow. This is the trade-wind that in past centuries brought timber-hulled ships of European explorers and adventurers to Australia. In the summer a cooling breeze known locally as the Fremantle Doctor blows, so called because it brings relief from heat of a hot summer's day.
This is the port-town and trading doorway of Perth, Western Australia's capital city. Fremantle is an historic place that wears its history like a badge of honour. Many of the historic buildings in central Fremantle are now the home of the Fremantle campus of Notre Dame University.
Fremantle is also a lifestyle place. Just 30 minutes from the central business district of Perth, Fremantle boasts a great quality of life, perfect weather for outdoor activities, clean ocean and the whitest beaches. Beyond the fishing, surfing and swimming is an enviable arts and music scene, plus great local foods and Australia's famous wines.
It's this pursuit of quality of life that is matched by Poseidon's commitment to the quality of our products.
Fremantle and Australia's west coast capital city attracts innovative, bright and creative people. Poseidon has employed some of them and has been able to harness their energy and commitment. A working life is never easy, but the mix of great surroundings and fascinating work means that Poseidon is happy to remain on Australia's west coast.
Modern travel and communications means we can stay in touch and meet our customers' needs and enjoy the very best lifestyle. For more information on Fremantle click here.
